Majesco Entertainment Company, which provides video games for the mass market, has announced Attack of the Movies 3D. Claimed to be the first-ever 3D shooter designed exclusively for Wii, the game transports players to six fantastic movie-themed worlds.

Players will battle large alien space cruisers, shoot underwater monsters, join the resistance against the machines and more.

Packaged with four pairs of 3D glasses to support four-player multiplayer action, and featuring classic enemies culled from the annals of film history, this inspired 3D shooter jumps right out of your television and into your living room, explains the company.

“We all dream about being the hero in our favorite action movies,” said Gui Karyo, executive VP of Operations for Majesco. “Attack of the Movies 3D lets you live that experience out with a realism and dimensionality previously only found in movie theaters.”

In Attack of the Movies 3D, players become an integral part of movie scenes they can typically only watch.

Each scene features genre-based ultimate weapons to engage enemies, including zombie-slaying shotguns, automatic laser cannons, and more.

In addition, branching paths, changing enemy attack patterns, unique areas and environmental challenges ensure that players never experience the same fight twice.

Developed by Panic Button Games, Attack of the Movies 3D is expected to release Spring 2010, according to the company.

Sony is joining forces with movie theaters to create a series of multi-player gaming events. The idea is to highlight the potential of “alternative content” as an additional revenue source for exhibitors during non-peak times.

To support the release of the PlayStation3 title UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, Sony Computer Entertainment of America and Sony Digital Cinema Solutions and Services are producing four exclusive “sneak peek” events.

Attendees will have the chance to play UNCHARTED 2 on the big screen, powered by Sony Electronics 4K digital cinema technology, which provides image resolution four times greater than high-definition consumer televisions, the company claims.

The “sneak peek” events will take place on October 5 and 6, 6-11 p.m., at the following theaters:

  • Landmark Embarcadero, San Francisco, Calif.
  • Muvico Theaters, Rosemont, Ill.
  • Muvico Theaters, Thousand Oaks, Calif.
  • Lincoln Square Cinemas, Bellevue, Wash.

“Sony 4K digital cinema technology delivers an enhanced viewing experience unlike anything seen in theaters before,” said Mike Fidler, senior vice president of Sony Electronics’ Digital Cinema Solutions and Services Group.

“But it also offers exhibitors additional programming options from alternative content such as gaming events, simulcasts, pre-recorded concerts, and sporting events, to maximize a movie theater’s profitability and fill auditoriums during non-peak times.”

As the move to digital cinema continues, Sony says exhibitors across the United States are increasing their menu of services and amenities to elevate the theater-going experience, turning theaters into “digital entertainment destinations.”

natalCompatible with any Xbox 360 system, the “Project Natal” sensor is said to be the world’s first to combine an RGB camera, depth sensor, multi-array microphone, and custom processor running proprietary software all in one device. Ace filmmaker Steven Spielberg introduced it for controller-free gaming.

Unveiled for the first time to the public was “Project Natal,” pronounced “nuh-tall” and a code name for a new way to play, no controller required.

Unlike 2-D cameras and controllers, “Project Natal” tracks your full body movement in 3-D, while responding to commands, directions, and even a shift of emotion in your voice.

Microsoft says the “Project Natal” sensor is not light-dependent. It can recognize you just by looking at your face, and it doesn’t just react to key words but understands what you’re saying.

“The next step in interactive entertainment is to make the controller disappear,” said Steven Spielberg, a leading film director and producer. “With ‘Project Natal,’ we’ll see games that bring everyone together through technology that actually recognizes us.”

Also, Xbox LIVE has announced that Facebook and Last.fm would be tailor-made for your TV, on Xbox 360. Using Facebook Connect, you can share your experience in gaming by posting updates and screenshots from supported games directly to Facebook.

Last.fm, part of the CBS Interactive Music Group, will give Xbox LIVE subscribers access to songs streaming through Xbox 360. Xbox LIVE subscribers will be able to create their own free, personalized radio stations, says Microsoft.

A few days ago, Microsoft had announced that sales of Xbox 360 consoles have passed the 30 million mark globally, with its Xbox LIVE community swelling to more than 20 million active members. (Read: Xbox 360 Console Sales Hit 30 Million)

Disney Interactive Studios today (May 7) announced that Disney Sing It: Pop Hits, the third game in the video-based karaoke video game franchise, will be released this fall. It features 30 master recordings and music videos from fan favorites, including Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Colbie Caillat, Demi Lovato, Hannah Montana, Jesse McCartney, Coldplay and One Republic.

“Great music, chart-topping artists and immersive gameplay are the key components in making this franchise popular with tweens and families around the world,” said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing, Disney Interactive Studios. “In addition to an exciting new collection of songs, the fun factor has been raised with new multiplayer elements that will bring hours of enjoyment to music fans of all ages.”

In Disney Sing It: Pop Hits, fans will enjoy familiar single and multiplayer game modes such as singing solo, duet and head-to-head. Players will learn how to sing from a professional in the newly expanded “Sing It Pro” mode.

Led by Disney Channel star Tiffany Thornton from “Sonny With A Chance,” this series of voice exercises runs through the basics of pitch and breathing, all the way up to harmonizing in a duet and riffing, says Disney. These exercises are designed to teach players how to sing so they can unlock special rewards based on vocal improvements as they play.

Slated for a fall release, Disney Sing It: Pop Hits follows last year’s release of Disney Sing It and this spring’s Disney Sing It: High School Musical 3: Senior Year. These titles provide an interactive social experience for fans, where they can team up or compete in lively performance battles with friends, says Disney.

Developed by Zoë Mode, the game will be available for Wii and PlayStation3. It will be sold as a standalone or bundled with one Logitech microphone for all systems.
