Milo Burik gets caught in a crossfire of chaos and corruption while trying to stay one step ahead of local law enforcement and rival gangs in the beautifully re-created city of Barcelona, Spain. This is the crux of the storyline that drives Wheelman, an action-packed driving game featuring film star Vin Diesel as undercover agent and expert driver-for-hire Milo Burik.
In Wheelman, the player’s car is the weapon. Players weave in and out of traffic, engaging in intense vehicular warfare, leaving wreckage in their wake as they take out anything or anyone that gets in the way with innovative super moves like “Vehicle Melee,” “AirJack” and the “Cyclone.”
The vendors Ubisoft, Midway, and Tigon Studios have shipped the game. It’s available at retailers for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC and is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB.
Ubisoft focuses on interactive entertainment products while Midway Games produces interactive entertainment software for videogame systems and PCs. And based in Los Angeles, California, Tigon Studios was founded in 2002 by Vin Diesel.
“First and foremost Wheelman is designed to be action packed, accessible and over-the-top driving fun,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “Wheelman’s dynamic systems adjust to the player’s experience level so that everyone – from a novice to an expert gamer – can play and feel as if they’re an action hero in a driving game.”
It’s inspired by Hollywood’s action-sequences. And there are more than 100 side missions available, giving players opportunities to steer through the streets of virtual Barcelona, while earning vehicle upgrades, achievements, and trophies.
Among the other racing games, Disney Interactive Studios has announced Split/Second, an intense action racing game set within the world of a hyper-competitive reality television show. Competitors vie to be the first across the finish line in a made-for-TV city built for destruction.
Developed by Black Rock Studio, Split/Second is scheduled to be released in early 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows-based PC.
Earlier, Criterion Games, an Electronic Arts (EA) studio had announced Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box. It’s a special edition release of the social driving game that includes the Burnout Paradise game plus the previously-released Burnout Paradise Cagney, Burnout Paradise Bikes content updates, and the new Burnout Paradise Party content.
